Bicycle National Cross-Country Journey Essentials: Certification Booklet Purchase Locations and Araseo-Hae Gapmun Authentication Center Practical Tips and Precautions

As someone who loves cycling, I think embarking on a journey along Korea's four major rivers and the national cross-country bicycle path is truly an exhilarating and fantastic experience. I highly recommend that fellow cyclists challenge themselves to this journey at least once in their lifetime. One of the most special and memorable travels in my life was undoubtedly the national cross-country bicycle journey. To undertake and successfully complete this grand journey, purchasing a bicycle certification booklet is a highly important and essential preparation step . The act of stopping at each checkpoint to physically stamp the marks yourself to commemorate your travel, and planning the trip toward the next destination, is just as exciting as riding the bicycle itself. While there are automatic certification systems using mobile phones that are well-established and easy to use nowadays, the nature of the national cross-country route means riding through deep mountains or isolat...

Sydney Novotel City Centre Breakfast: Why a Google 4.6-Star Pho Restaurant Let Me Down

Craving a hot, comforting bowl of soup for breakfast while staying at Sydney Novotel City Centre? Do not let an impressive Google rating of 4.6 stars fool you into ruining one of your precious vacation meals. Based on my personal experience, here is my honest review. Reading this guide until the end will help you avoid wasting money at a central Sydney food court.

1. An Unexpected Twist at the Novotel Lobby and the Search for Hot Soup

After a tiring journey that started at 4:00 AM, I arrived early at the Novotel hotel. On the plane, I had been searching for the right English phrases to ask, "Is early check-in available? If not, can I please leave my luggage first?" I walked into the lobby with determination, lined up my practiced English, and uttered, "I arrived too early..." right as I faced the front desk staff. The employee smiled warmly and replied in fluent Korean, asking if I was from Korea.

All my intense mental practice vanished in a single second. We jokingly agreed that she recognized me not because of my awkward pronunciation, but because of my sophisticated look. Thanks to the incredibly kind Korean-speaking staff member, I safely and comfortably dropped off my bags.

With a lighter body, instead of the trendy brunch she recommended, my traditional Korean appetite craved hot soup, so I opened Google Maps. I discovered a food court stall named 'Mr & Mrs Pho' right near the Novotel, boasting 100 reviews and a 4.6-star rating, and walked straight over with high expectations.

2. The Realization: Local Travelers Avoided This Menu

I found a seat in the busy food court, surrounded by a diverse mix of people. Right next to me, a group of locals were sharing nostalgic travel stories over their lunch. In a city like Sydney, seeing a food court packed with crowd is completely normal, but I soon noticed a highly ironic plot twist that only a traveler from Korea would spot.

Out of all the people packed into that food court, not a single local regular was eating the pho I had ordered. Everyone else had smartly chosen vibrant, steaming dishes from the neighboring stalls, while the pho counter remained dead quiet. It turned out I was the only naive traveler who had fallen for that 4.6-star Google rating, completely missing the real-time warning right in front of my eyes.

3. Why I Do Not Recommend This Particular Pho Spot

When my number was called out loudly by the staff, the bowl of pho I picked up actually looked decent with plenty of meat slices on top. However, here are the exact reasons why I cannot recommend this place:

pho

  • An Overwhelmingly Salty Broth: The moment I took my first sip, the broth felt incredibly salty. While it might score 4.6 stars as a quick, heavy lunch for local office workers, it felt like a total salt overload for a traveler seeking deep, comforting flavors to start the morning.
  • Disappointing Portion Size: The bowl itself was large, but the actual content was so small that a few lifts of my chopsticks revealed the bottom of the bowl.
  • High Expectations Based on Real Quality: My husband and I are genuinely serious about pho—to the point where we go out for a bowl on his birthday. We are regular customers at an amazing, authentic local spot in Melbourne, where my friendly husband even greets the owner's son-in-law. Being used to that deep, rich, and generous Melbourne standard made this Sydney version feel like a 2 or 3-star dish at best.

If you ever visit the Melbourne area instead, I highly recommend checking out this authentic spot for a proper bowl:

Pho Hung Vuong Saigon - Clayton, Victoria

In conclusion, while this spot might suit local office workers looking for a fast, intense bite in the middle of the Sydney CBD, it can easily turn into a waste of money for travelers seeking authentic flavor and depth. If you are hunting for a meal near Novotel Sydney, do not just blindly trust the Google ratings—take a quick look at what the local crowds are actually ordering first.
